I have always felt extremely fortunate to have been in the right place and the right time to find Euchloe ausonides insulanus at American Camp in the San Juans. I was walking in the footsteps of Bob Pyle and other professional and accomplished amateur lepidopterists. I had a second stroke of luck regarding the critter a couple weeks ago when Bellamy Pailthorp, a reporter for KNKX, asked if I would help with a radio story about the discovery and the species. Ann Potter and I each spent time with her and I think the result does the project and the species good justice.
