JUNE 3 FIELD TRIP: UMTANUM RECREATION AREA
This lovely canyon trail between Ellensburg and Yakima begins with the crossing of the Yakima River on a swinging bridge. It is a fairly easy hike up the canyon with trails on either side of a small creek. Bighorn sheep may be seen on the canyon ridges, hawks and falcons call this area home, and a variety of butterflies can be seen throughout the season. We can go as far up the canyon as we like. $5 per car BLM parking fee.
