Come and help celebrate National Moth Week (www.nationalmothweek.org) with local ‘mothologist’ Carl Barrentine. 

Carl will make a short presentation, introducing a few dozen of the many hundreds of moth species that can be found here in the Spokane area, and then we’ll turn on the ‘moth lights’ to look for moths in the Bowl and Pitcher area of the Riverside State Park Campground. Bring your flashlights and cell phones!

Carl will lead an early evening saunter along the Steven’s Creek Trail, Dishman Hills Conservancy. He’ll introduce participants to some of common resident moths and butterflies of the conservancy. An educational handout will be provided. Bring your binoculars, flashlights and cell phones!

Carl and Shelby will host a private ‘Mothapalooza’ for Washington Butterfly Association members at their home (a.k.a. ‘Mothlandia’) in south Spokane, Washington. He’ll introduce participants to the rudiments of luring, photographing, and identifying moths. Reservations required (see above). Bring flashlights and cell phones!
