MUSIC AND MONARCHS 2019
Sunday, September 15, 2 – 4:00pm
Cowiche Creek Brewing Company
514 Thompson Rd. Cowiche, WA 98923
The western monarch is on the brink of collapse. All the more reason to celebrate and support the ones that are still here. At this year’s Music and Monarchs, you’ll have a chance to learn about what you can do to improve monarch habitat and support species numbers. Join us at beautiful Cowiche Creek Brewing for great beer, great music, and an urgent cause.
Enjoy an afternoon of live music by Blake Noble as we celebrate and release newly emerged monarch butterflies into the wild. The butterfly release will be at 3 pm.
Citizen scientists and CCC volunteers work with entomologist David G. James PhD, Associate Professor of Entomology at Washington State University, to rear and tag monarch butterflies. Dr. James studies the migration patterns of monarchs from the Pacific Northwest. This work enhances our understanding of monarchs and aids in the conservation of this urgently threatened species.
