Had first Cloak here in Gray’s River today too, Dave–it flew up to
chase the violet-green swallows, as they made their dramatic annual
return to my house, two days ahead of average April Fool’s. Also today
at swede Park, Gray’s River: echo azures, margined whites, one
anglewing, so far. On Asian pears & cherry laurels.

Quite warm today near Olympia. We saw our year’s first west side butterfly (an Echo Blue). Also several Mesoleuca (Half-white carpet) moths.
Last weekend we was several east-side whites near Othello. Didn’t get a close look, but assuming they were Spring whites — Pontia sisymbrii.

Hi All,  It has  been a slow year so far down in Klickitat County. I’ve been watching for 3-4 weeks and I have seen only 4-5 Sara’s Orangetips (Anthocharis sara) and some microleps.  Perhaps been too rainy and cold.  Supposed to be nice the next week and diapause may end….  Jim
