Title: My Monarch Journey

David’s life has been entwined with the monarch butterfly ever since he laid eyes on it in the Observer’s Book of Butterflies when he was 8 years old in England. The monarch remained a dream until after he graduated from Salford University and lived in Sydney, Australia, where they flew commonly. He spent a decade researching the biology of Australian monarchs culminating in a Doctoral degree. Chapter two of his monarch research occurred here in the western US this Century, and he’s spoken often of it with us. Recently, he journeyed back to Australia to revisit the populations that stimulated his thoughts and views of this iconic insect. David’s presentation will weave this recent journey into his life’s journey with the monarch. Expect strange milkweed, kangaroos, koalas, exotic birds and flora as we journey along with David and his spirit insect, the monarch.
